A well earned rest day.
Swakopmund is a German town on the coast of the Namibian desert. It looks very European. Most of the signs around town are in German. The cbd is not very big but seems to have anything you could want.
We got dropped off by Nils down by the seashore and as the night fog had not yet burnt off it was very hazy. The fog comes in every night and around 11.00 am it burns off leaving bright blue skies. It stays cool through the day.
We explored the city and bumped into others members of the trip on every corner.
Pete found his new guitar in one of the local shops. After not managing to get too lost we met for a big lunch at the pub in town.
Su gave three of us a lift back to the hotel where we swapped some foot pegs over on John's new 1200 GS.
I had a go at fixing an electrical problem on Mark's bike but with no tools it was a not really possible. It was only for the low beam headlight so not a major deal.
For dinner we were driven out to the casino. A fairly grand place with great food. A reasonably early night in preperation for hitting the road tomorrow. 320 kms and fair bit of ashphalt should make for a good day. We head north up the coast then turn inland, heading for Vingerklip. Not sure if we will have web access there.
