After waking our guide up at 8am due to his alarm failure we headed to the airport. The 700km flight south to Puerto Montt took 1 1/2 hours and flew over coastal ranges and some active volcanos. The weather in Puerto Varas is a lot cooler and wetter than Santiago.
The town is quite European, small and very much more us. Its a lot like Wanaka or Tofino.
We had the afternoon to explore the town after which we sat having some cervazas in the sun with views of the volcano across the lake. We were joined for a few frosty adult beverages by Mark from Switzerland and the afternoon sun was very pleasant.
