After a warm night we slowly broke camp. We got away around 10am and headed further west.
Our first stop was at the Ochre Pits. Sadly removing any of the ochre is a $5000 fine so Jaks and Ronny had to forgo their beauty therapy.
Next along the Namatjira Drive is Ormiston Gorge. Spectacular red cliffs surround this very cold waterhole.
After a quick and very cold dip we drove into Glen Helen resort to purchase our permits for the road south into Kings Canyon. $5.00 poorer it was time for lunch at the Mt Sonder lookout.
We decided that Redbank Gorge would be our stopping point for the night. After perusing several spots, number 11 caught our eye. The afternoon heat sapped our energy for a while and we lazed around camp.
After perking up we drove the short track to the trail head. The track up the valley was dusty and rocky. Finally we arrived at a small pool wedged between solid rock walls. The slot canyon looked inviting and we swam across several ice ice icey pools and clambered over rocks until we could no further.
Ringo started showing signs of hypothermia so we set about retreating back down the slippery rocks.
Back at camp Ronny had whipped up a great damper in their new camp oven.
As I type this we are sitting around a nice fire having a wee dram.
