Hillary.

Our 4x4 of choice is a 2005 GXL 120 series Toyota Prado.

We have done a fair bit of modifying to it to get it ready for some big trips and just to make it more user friendly.

As there are only 2 of us we have removed all of the seats (except the front two). This has made lots more usable space. The front sets have been replaced with 2 Recaros which will make touring long distances more comfortable.

There are a set of homemade rear draws containg food and camping gear. The bulk of our recovery gear is stored down beside the draws.

The Engel 40 litre fridge sits on a flat floor where the middle row of seats was. Its held in place by a transit lock and is accessed through the passenger side rear door.

A 40 litre water container sits accross the floor behind the front seats.

We use two Icom radios while out and about. One for UHF and the HF. A codan aerial mounted on the rear door gets the signal out.

The vehicle runs ARB lockers front and rear, an ARB bull bar, 8000lb winch, and Opposite Lock rear bar for carrying 2 spare tyres.

These are most of the main mods, and I will try to do some individual posts on each item with some photos.
